The Community Development office heads the township's communications efforts, including the website, social media, quarterly magazine and media relations, and coordinates community and business outreach and economic development initiatives.

Award-Winning Communications


The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development selected South Fayette Township as a winner of the 2016 Governor’s Awards for Local Government Excellence for the success of its online communications. The township’s website and social media pages were recognized for exemplifying exceptional dedication to public service through innovative initiatives. Gold-Certified Sustainable Community


In 2017, South Fayette Township earned Gold through the voluntary Sustainable Pennsylvania Community Certification program. The results show that the community is committed to economic development, social equity and environmental quality. The program is administered by the Pennsylvania Municipal League in partnership with Sustainable Pittsburgh.

South Fayette Connect Magazine


South Fayette Township began publishing its official magazine in 2016. South Fayette Township homes and businesses receive the magazine by mail. Everyone can read our publication online. In 2017, the Community Development and Parks & Recreation departments won an Excellence in Recreation and Parks Award from the Pennsylvania Recreation and Park Society for our "Creative Recreation Sponsorships" program, which raises funds for community events by offering incentive advertisements in South Fayette Connect magazine.
