Protecting Yourself & Property From Crime

You are in your bed sleeping and are awakened by a burglary in your residence - what should you do?

  • Don't make any sound or movement - do not confront the burglar. Pretend you are still asleep.
  • Let the burglar take whatever property he wants.
  • Give the burglar an opportunity to escape. Never run or chase the person.
  • After they are gone, immediately dial 911 for the police.

This situation can easily occur to anyone, at any time. The national average is 1 out of every 6 homes will be burglarized. The most important thing to remember is that your property can be replaced - people can't.

Deter Burglars

Burglars are opportunists - don't give them the opportunity. Keep burglars from entering your residence by:

  • Activating your alarm system
  • Locking all doors and windows
  • Set timers on your interior lights
  • Trimming back trees and bushes
  • Turning on spotlights

Protect Your Property
