South Fayette continues moving forward

Posted on October 22, 2025 at 2:23 PM by Andrea Iglar

Autumn is a great time to reflect on what keeps South Fayette moving forward—both literally and figuratively.

Our team is dedicated to progress, from the Public Works mechanics who keep our fleet of vehicles and equipment running smoothly, to the Parks and Recreation staff who spearheaded paving the Panhandle Trail in Sturgeon.

Community spirit was on full display at South Fayette Community Day in August. More than 5,000 people came together to celebrate our residents, businesses and organizations. And as we plan for the upcoming holidays, events such as Joy-Thru Fairview remind us that gatherings and traditions foster pride and bring us closer as a community.

We’re also enhancing how we connect with citizens. In addition to South Fayette Connect magazine and our online resources—including five social media channels and a website that has attracted more than 2 million visits—you can tune in to South Fayette TV on Comcast channel 14 for community information and replays of public meetings. It’s another way we’re keeping you informed and engaged all year long.

Police launch citizens academy

Posted on October 22, 2025 at 2:21 PM by Andrea Iglar

The South Fayette Township Police Department successfully launched of our very first Citizens Police Academy this spring.

The eight-week program was designed to strengthen the connection between officers and the community. A variety of activities and presentations provided residents with an interactive, behind-the-scenes experience that enhanced knowledge and understanding of police operations.

Academy participants learned how to use a Taser, conduct fingerprinting and even use virtual reality to simulate traffic stops and police incidents. Graduates left with a deeper appreciation of the professionalism and dedication of our public safety team.

Our police department programs reflect the township’s ongoing efforts to build trust, foster transparency and ensure that South Fayette remains a safe, welcoming place for residents, businesses and visitors.

Homeowner associations enhance the township

Posted on April 15, 2025 at 12:03 PM by Andrea Iglar

South Fayette neighborhoods are more than just places to live. They are communities where neighbors work together and care about each other.

Our residents value their homes beyond dollars and cents, and they take enormous pride in their properties and neighborhoods.

Homeowner associations, or HOAs, are prevalent in the township, and these groups play a pivotal role in building a sense of community, ensuring high standards and contributing to quality of life.

The spring 2025 issue of South Fayette Connect highlights homeowner associations and the efforts of HOA members to share resources and identify partnership opportunities.

The first meeting of the Homeowner Association Leadership Forum is set for May 2025. This newly formed consortium of HOA board members seeks to meet periodically to exchange best practices and discuss concerns to ensure their neighborhoods are successful.

Cooperation among HOAs—and between HOAs and local government—strengthens the fabric of our community. As homeowner groups build a collective perspective, the township will be able to better allocate resources that support neighborhoods. For example, we could work to improve traffic flow, enhance park facilities or address stormwater concerns.

By aligning our goals and working in tandem with HOAs, we can more effectively serve residents and create a stronger, more connected South Fayette.

We look forward to building this future together.
